19-Year-Old Dies, Another Missing After Maha Oya Drowning

COLOMBO (News 1st): A 19-year-old youth has died after drowning in the Maha Oya in the Madurupitiya area of Mirigama, while another person remains missing.
Police said the incident occurred when the group had gone to bathe in the river.
The deceased has been identified as a 19-year-old resident of Mirigama.
Another person who was rescued by area residents has been admitted to Dambadeniya Hospital.
Search operations are underway to locate the missing youth.
