Ministry Prepares Plan to Ensure Food Security Amid El Niño Conditions

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Agriculture has prepared a plan to maintain food security and prevent a food shortage in the future amid El Niño conditions.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Namal Karunaratne said that a cultivation plan has also been introduced for this.

According to the Deputy Minister, special attention has been given to water management and the sustainable use of water resources.

Awareness programmes have also been organized to educate farmers on using water efficiently and avoiding wastage.
