COLOMBO(News 1st); Special train services will operate from today for people travelling to their hometowns for the New Year.
The Railway Department says these services will run until the 19th.
Accordingly, special trains will operate between Colombo Fort–Anuradhapura, Anuradhapura–Kankesanthurai, Maradana–Matara, and Maradana–Beliatta.
The Railway Department says the Rajarata Rajini train, which usually runs from Beliatta to Mahawa, will operate up to Anuradhapura during the New Year period.
The Mahawa office train, which runs from Colombo Fort to Mahawa, will operate up to Anuradhapura only on the 11th and 12th.
These special train services are arranged for people travelling from Colombo to their hometowns and returning to Colombo.
Private buses and Sri Lanka Transport Board buses are also operating for the New Year season.
