COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo High Court today (27) ordered that the further examination of evidence in the case filed against former Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and six other accused be taken up again on 18 February.
The case has been filed over several allegations, including the misuse of state funds.
The matter was called today before Colombo High Court Judge Udesh Ranatunga.
During today’s proceedings, the testimony of witnesses for the prosecution was formally recorded.
The Attorney General has filed five charges against former Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa,who served as the subject minister at the time, his wife, and six other accused, over allegations of misusing around Rs. 6 Million belonging to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).
According to the indictment, the funds were allegedly spent illegally under the guise of providing “flood relief assistance” during the period 26 December 2014 to 26 January 2015.
