COLOMBO (News1st): The Colombo High Court today scheduled the case filed by the Attorney General against former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and former Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundera to be recalled on March 23.

The duo faces several charges, including criminal negligence of duty, for failing to take action to prevent the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks despite having received prior intelligence reports.

The case, which is being heard before a trial-at-bar was postponed today as a bench had not been named for the hearing.

Previously, a Colombo Trial-at-Bar had ordered the acquittal and release of Hemasiri Fernando and Pujith Jayasundera without calling for the defense's evidence.

However, following an appeal filed by the Attorney General, the Supreme Court overturned the acquittal. The Supreme Court directed the Trial-at-Bar to recall the case, record the evidence from the defense, and subsequently deliver a fresh verdict.
