Up to 10,000 Civil Security Officers To Join Police Force

COLOMBO (News1st): Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya stated that personnel from the Civil Security Forces will be recruited to address the current shortage of police officials.

According to IGP Weerasuriya, the force currently requires a minimum of 10,000 officials, while the actual shortfall stands at around 30,000. 

As a temporary measure for the shortage up to 10,000 officers from the Civil Security Forces are expected to fill the gap. So far, 1,000 officers have already been recruited.

Meanwhile, according to IGP Weerasuriya, a special salary strucure has been prepared for police officers. It is expected to have the proposal tabled for cabinet approval and improve salary benefits of police offiers.
