COLOMBO (News1st): The Department of Agrarian Development has announced that 911 farmers have registered so far with the FarmerNET.lk, a system that was launched as part of the country's national policy to digitalize public service.
Chaminda Ekanayake, The Commissioner General of Agrarian Development, said that all farmers across the island can now register for this service online.
Accordingly, A ground-level program to educate farmers about the system will be conducted from February 2 to February 15.
Namal Karunaratne, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock noted that the primary goal of this program is to establish a comprehensive national database for the country's agricultural sector.
Ekanayake emphasized that during the program officials will ensure that all farmers are well-informed on how to utilize the digital platform effectively.
