Grade Six Reforms Delayed Until 2027, Textbooks To Remain Same

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Education says it has decided to provide the textbooks used by last year’s Grade Six students to this year’s Grade Six batch as well.

This follows the decision to continue with the old syllabus for the Grade Six students this year.

Although new education reforms for Grade Six were scheduled to be introduced this year, the government has postponed them until 2027 due to continuous objections raised by various parties, including the opposition.

When questioned Secretary to the Ministry of Education Nalaka Kaluwewa said that steps are being taken to print the required workbooks for Grade Six students.
