COLOMBO (News 1st); The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has directed disciplinary measures against the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of Sapugaskanda Police, the head of its Traffic Division, and senior state officials overseeing the station.

The move follows findings that these officers allegedly neglected their duties during the investigation into a recent accident involving National People’s Power (NPP) parliamentarian Ashoka Ranwala.

According to a statement issued by the Police Media Division, the Special Investigation Unit has launched a formal inquiry into the conduct of the officers.

The accident occurred when a jeep driven by MP Ranwala collided with a car and a motorcycle in the Mawaramandiya area of Sapugaskanda.

The crash left a seven-month-old infant and a woman injured.
