COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation has announced that suitable state lands have been selected to provide housing for families who lost their homes due to recent disasters and those living in high-risk landslide zones.

District Secretaries have finalized land allocations in Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Badulla, and Kandy, according to Land Commissioner General Chandana Ranaweeraarachchi.

These lands will soon be handed over to the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) for assessments to ensure they meet safety standards for residential development.

Meanwhile, the National Council on Disaster Management, chaired by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, recently approved the construction of housing complexes for affected communities.

Housing and Water Supply Minister Dr. Susil Ranasinghe confirmed that the National Housing Development Authority has been tasked with implementing the project.

This initiative aims to provide permanent, safe housing for vulnerable families and reduce future disaster risks.
