Govt to Sell Imported Salt at a Wholesale Price of Rs. 150/kg

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Food Security has announced that imported table salt will be sold at a wholesale price of Rs. 150 per kilogram in response to the ongoing shortage.

Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe confirmed that a shipment of 30,000 metric tons of salt is expected to arrive in the country by the 10th of June.

The minister also noted that discussions are underway regarding the future production of salt using mechanized methods.
