COLOMBO (News 1st) - The final rites of veteran actress Malini Fonseka will be held on Monday afternoon at Independence Square in Colombo.
Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi said, her body will be placed at the Tharangani Hall of the National Film Corporation tomorrow morning to allow the public to pay their respects.
This afternoon, the remains will be taken to her residence in Madiwela.
Malini Fonseka, widely known as the "Queen of Sri Lankan Cinema," passed away this morning at the age of 78 while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
She had been unwell for some time.
Her passing marks the end of an era in Sri Lankan cinema, with her contributions spanning over five decades across stage, film, and television.
