Police Probe Launched Over Photo Of The Sacred Tooth Relic Circulating In Social Media

COLOMBO (News 1st)  - The Siri Dalada Vandanawa is being held for the third consecutive day today, following the special religious observances conducted in honor of the Sacred Tooth Relic. 

Accordingly, devotees will have the opportunity to venerate the Sacred Tooth Relic from 12 noon to 5.30 pm today as well.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into a photograph of the Sacred Tooth Relic that is circulating on social media.

Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasooriya stated that preliminary investigations are underway to determine when the image was captured. 

He further noted that the assistance of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will be sought if required.

Authorities reiterate that photographing or videotaping the Sacred Tooth Relic during the Siri Dalada Vandanawa is strictly prohibited.
