COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police has launched a pilot project to facilitate the online payment of traffic fines through the GOV PAY app.
This initiative is part of the police's broader digitalization efforts.
According to a statement from the Police Headquarters, the project aims to streamline the process of paying traffic fines, which currently requires drivers to take the fine notices issued by police officers to post offices for payment.
After payment, drivers must present the receipt back to the police station to retrieve their driving licenses.
The pilot project will run from today (11) until the 30th of this month and will cover the areas of Kurunegala, Doratiyawa, Melsiripura, Gokarella, Galewela, Dambulla, Madatugama, Maradankadawala, Kekirawa, Thirappane, Kawarakuluma, and Anuradhapura.
