COLOMBO (News 1st); Four individuals, who allegedly accompanied Yoshitha Rajapaksa to a Colombo nightclub, have been arrested by the Colombo Central Division Crimes Investigation Bureau (CID) in connection with an assault.
Senior Superintendent of Police & Police Spokesperson Buddhika Manathunga confirmed that the suspects were taken into custody after surrendering to the police.
Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, and his wife, along with several others, visited a nightclub on Park Street, Union Place, on the night of March 20th.
The altercation reportedly began when the Rajapaksa couple refused to wear identification wristbands required for entry, leading to a confrontation with the nightclub's security personnel.
The situation escalated, resulting in the assault of a bouncer.
Initial investigations were conducted by the Kompanna Veediya Police, but the case has since been handed over to the Colombo Central Division Crimes Investigation Bureau for further inquiry.
Yoshitha Rajapaksa and his wife provided statements to the Kompanna Veediya Police yesterday (25) regarding the incident.
