Over Rs. 153 Mn Worth of Narcotics Seized

COLOMBO (News 1st); A coordinated operation conducted by the Navy and Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) on the night of 19 Mar 25 in Colombo 12, led to the arrest of a suspect with 19kg and 348g of hashish, 348g of heroin and 4g of methamphetamine (Ice).

The operation was mounted following information received by Naval Intelligence. During the coordinated operation, personnel of the Navy and PNB searched a house in Colombo 12 on suspicion and recovered this stash of 19kg and 348g of hashish, 348g of heroin and 4g of methamphetamine from the house. Incidentally, a suspect in connection to the incident was also taken into custody.

Meanwhile, the gross street value of the seized stash of narcotics is believed to be over Rs. 153 million.

The suspect held in this operation was identified as a resident of the locality of Colombo 12, aged 31. The suspect together with 19kg and 348g of hashish, 348g of heroin and 4g of methamphetamine was handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau for onward legal action.
