COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Motor Traffic says that vehicle emission testing raids will begin today in the Colombo district, in line with the "Clean Sri Lanka" program.
Director of the Vehicular Emission Trust Fund at the Department of Motor Traffic, Engineer Dasun Gamage, said that they aim to conduct emission tests on a 1,000 vehicles within a month.
Vehicles that fail these emission tests will be issued maintenance orders.
Accordingly, corrections must be made according to the maintenance order within 14 days, and the vehicle must be presented for re-inspection.
Additionally, he mentioned that a program to educate police officers on legal procedures related to vehicle emission testing is also planned.
