Sri Lanka Developing National Plan for Fire Services

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan government is prioritizing the development of a national plan for fire services, according to Deputy Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government, P. Ruwan Senarath.

The initiative aims to address and prevent issues that arise during service delivery, ensuring that fire services are managed efficiently. 

Deputy Minister Senarath emphasized the urgency of gathering input and proposals from fire service officers and fire fighters to formulate the national plan swiftly.

The Deputy Minister made these remarks during a discussion held at the Colombo District Secretariat with Fire Chiefs from all Fire Brigades located across the country.

Fire service officers highlighted the severe challenges they face due to shortages in human resources, technical issues, and water supply problems. 

They stressed the need for proper technical training for officers and greater attention to issues related to service promotions.
