Police Arrest 46 in Connection with Shootings

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have arrested 46 suspects in connection with various shootings that occurred so far this year. 

According to police reports, 17 incidents resulted in the deaths of 17 individuals.

Among these incidents, 11 were related to organized crime groups, while the remaining 6 were linked to other events.

Sri Lanka Police stated that 15 individuals were killed and 2 were injured in the shootings involving organized crime groups. Additionally, 2 individuals lost their lives in other shooting incidents.

Since January 1st, police have confiscated 5 T-56 firearms and 6 pistols. Authorities also seized 5 motorcycles, 2 cars, 2 vans, and 2 three-wheelers used in these shootings.
