Court To Consider Nalin Fernando’s Appeal On August 25

Colombo(News 1st); The Permanent trial at bar of the Colombo High Court ordered that the appeal request to the Former Minister of Trade, Nalin Fernando who has been ordered to be in rigourous imprisonment be taken up for consideration on the 25th of August. 

The appeal was called up before the high court justices Mahen Weeraman, Pradeep Abeyrathne and Amali Ranaweera.

President's Counsel Kalinga Indatissa, appearing for defendant Nalin Fernando, told the court that his client has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court against the prison sentence and fines.

The President's Counsel requested the court to release his client on bail until the appeal is heard and a final decision is announced.

After considering the facts presented, the three-judge bench also issued a notice to the Bribery Commission to present its case before the court on the 25th of August regarding the appeal request.
