COLOMBO (News 1st): Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya says that every school will be provided with the necessary facilities to ensure that children with special needs receive education in a regular manner.
She said that as an initial step, one school within each educational administrative zone will be facilitated to provide appropriate educational conditions for such children.
She added that under several phases, all schools will be provided with relevant facilities.
Additionally, Prime Minister emphasized that under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, special attention will be given to the higher education of children with special needs.
She made these remarks during a meeting held yesterday in Parliament with a group of representatives focused on improving the education of the differently-abled community.
A proposal developed for individuals with special needs, taking into account local and international standards, was handed over to the Prime Minister by the group of representatives.
