Minister Ananda Wijepala Assures Security for Opposition MPs After Assessment

COLOMBO (News 1st): Minister of Public Security, Ananda Wijepala says that Opposition MPs will be provided with necessary security.

The necessary security will be provided after a security assessment.

The minister said that a decision regarding the security to be provided will be made following the relevant assessment.

Opposition MPs have recently accused the government of reducing their security.

Following this, the Chief Opposition Whip made a written request to the Speaker, urging that adequate security be provided to all opposition MPs.

However, the minister added that no such security will be provided to government ministers.
