COLOMBO (News 1st): A suspect involved in an abduction and a robbery of a large sum of money was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, by the Airport's CID Unit.
According to the Police, the suspect was taken into custody in connection with an incident on February 8, where an individual was abducted in Ariyakulam, Jaffna, and a sum of over Rs. 8.4 million was robbed off the abducted individual.
As a result, two male suspects and two female suspects involved in the robbery were arrested and presented before Jaffna Magistrate's Court.
The court then had ordered that the suspects be remanded until February 28.
Police said that the main suspect linked to the incident, who is believed to have orchestrated the abduction and robbery, was arrested this morning at the BIA, while attempting to board a flight to Dubai.
The 27-year-old suspect is a resident of Jaffna.
