Colombo (News 1st): Asia Society India Centre, in collaboration with KALA hosted a one-on-one conversation between prominent art collectors Jaiveer Johal, from Chennai, India, and Khurram Kasim, from Karachi, Pakistan.
The event, held at Sapumal Foundation, Barnes Place Colombo, on February 11 aimed to promote and strengthen the scope of South Asian modern and contemporary art.
Joshal and Kasim shared insights into their experiences as collectors and their commitment to expanding the scope of South Asian contemporary art, both regionally and globally. The discussion explored their role as collectors and their commitment to support artists/collectors through patronage.
"The culture of museum going will come when you have spaces to go to", remarked one of the collectors emphasizing the importance of creating a community of "museum-goers" who appreciate the value of archiving, publishing, and engaging with contemporary and modern art.
