Overnight Pirith Sermon at Independence Square in Line with 77th National Independence Day

COLOMBO (News 1st) - An overnight pirith sermon was held at the Independence Square in Colombo last night, in line with the 77th Independence Day of Sri Lanka. 

The occasion was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, among others. 

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Administration has informed all government institutions to hoist the national flag for one week in observance of National Independence Day.

The Ministry also mentioned that instructions have been given to suspend electric lighting.

This is in an effort to reduce electricity costs and conserve energy.
