Special Team Appointed to Investigate Galle Prison Clash

COLOMBO (News 1st): A special team has been appointed to investigate the clash that broke out between two groups of inmates at the Galle Prison yesterday. 

Prisons Spokesperson Gamini Dissanayake says that the team will be led by the Assistant Superintendent of Prisons. 

He went on to note that the situation at the Galle prison has now returned to normalcy. 

Four inmates were injured as a result of the clash yesterday. 

They were admitted to Galle National Hospital for treatment.

The Department of Prisons says that the Chief Jailor's office was damaged during the clash. 

Sri Lanka Police said that the clash resulted from an argument that escalated out of control.
