Shiranthi Seeks Time After Singapore Medical Visit

COLOMBO (News 1st); A lawyer representing Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has informed the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) that she is unable to appear before investigators in response to a summons issued for today.

According to the letter submitted to the FCID, Shiranthi Rajapaksa is currently unable to attend the inquiry as she has travelled to Singapore to undergo eye surgery.

The investigation relates to transactions connected to the Siriliya Saviya Foundation, which operated under the patronage of Shiranthi Rajapaksa.

Shiranthi Rajapaksa departed for Singapore on September 16.
