Government Institutions to Hoist National Flag for A Week

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Public Administration has announced that all government institutions are to hoist the national flag for a week in celebration of  Independence Day.

Additionally, the ministry has reiterated its directive to suspend the use of decorative lighting to minimize electricity costs and conserve energy.

In preparation for the main Independence Day celebrations and parades, 1,650 members of the police and Special Task Force have been deployed to ensure security.

The police have also implemented a special traffic plan to facilitate the smooth conduct of the parades and main event without disrupting vehicular movement and public convenience.

The 77th National Independence Day celebration is scheduled to take place tomorrow at Independence Square in Colombo, under the patronage of the President. Notably, this year's celebration will not include the traditional Presidential salute.
