COLOMBO (News 1st); A report from the expert committee appointed to investigate the passport crisis in the country, has been submitted to the subject Minister.
Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala said that the report will be presented to the Cabinet next week.
According to the recommendations, a decision will be made on whether or not to change the current procedure for issuing passports.
The Minister added that currently, about 2,900 passports are issued daily.
He went on to note that efforts are underway to increase that number in the future.
