COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka has welcomed 39,415 tourists in the first five days of January 2025, marking a promising start to the year.
Comparing these figures to previous years, Sri Lanka saw a total of 208,253 tourist arrivals in January 2024, which was a significant increase from the 102,545 arrivals recorded in January 2023.
The substantial growth in 2024 was attributed to easing of travel restrictions and promotional campaigns aimed at boosting tourism.
While the current figures for January 2025 are only for the first five days, they indicate a positive trend.
Sri Lanka's tourism sector marked a significant milestone in 2024, welcoming over 2.05 million visitors, the highest annual total since 2019.
This achievement represents a remarkable 38.% year-on-year growth.
