COLOMBO (News 1st): Continuous heavy rainfall in the Polonnaruwa District has disrupted traffic on the Colombo-Batticaloa main road.
Near Jayanthipura, two trees collapsed at around 8:30 pm last night, completely blocking the road.
Officials from the Polonnaruwa Disaster Management Unit and the Polonnaruwa Municipal Council Fire Brigade took steps to remove the fallen trees from the road.
Meanwhile, a landslide in the Moragolla, along the Gampola-Nuwara Eliya main road has also obstructed vehicular movement.
Another landslide in Galpaya has caused a blockage along the Gampola-Dolosbage road.
Early yesterday morning, a landslide in Mahara, Gampola, caused significant damage to a house.
Due to the prevailing strong winds, fishing activities at the Dondra Fisheries Harbour have come to a halt.
