COLOMBO (News 1st) - A special discussion is scheduled for today to review the report on paddy and rice stocks held by paddy mill owners.
The meeting will be chaired by the newly appointed Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Co-operative Development.
A senior spokesperson from the Ministry of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Co-operative Development said that final decisions on the findings of the report and the next steps will be discussed.
The report, recently submitted to the President's Office, was prepared by the Consumer Affairs Authority on the President's instructions.
Trade Ministry Secretary M.M. Naimuddin confirmed that several rounds of discussions have already been held regarding the matter.
The report provides details on paddy and rice stocks across 21 districts, including four major paddy-growing regions.
