COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Trade says the report on rice and paddy stocks in the country, will be handed over to the President today.
The Ministry's Secretary, M.M.Naimudin says that the data collected from 17 districts are included in the report.
Officials of the Consumer Affairs Authority, recently conducted a survey of the stocks of paddy and rice held by the owners of large-scale, medium scale and small-scale rice mills in those districts.
The Ministry of Trade says that after considering the facts mentioned in the report, the President will take steps accordingly.
Meanwhile, Nadu rice is still being sold in the market above the control price.
The general public also says that there is a shortage of Nadu rice in shops these days.
