Thai Passenger Arrested at BIA with 5kg Methamphetamine Worth Rs. 100 Million

COLOMBO (News 1st): Officers from the Narcotics Control Unit at Bandaranaike International Airport arrested a passenger arriving from Malaysia last night after discovering a stock of methamphetamine (ICE) concealed within food packages in her luggage.

The 33-year-old female passenger, holding a Thai passport, arrived in Sri Lanka from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, via Singapore on Singapore Airlines flight SQ468, which landed around 11:55 PM yesterday.

The seized narcotic substance weighs approximately 5 kg, with an estimated street value of Rs. 100 million. Sri Lanka Customs' Narcotics Control Unit has sought assistance from the Police Narcotic Bureau, and further investigations are currently underway.
