Weather Advisory: Thundershowers, and Strong Winds

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Meteorology Department has issued a weather advisory indicating that showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-western, and Northern provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. 

Some areas in these provinces may experience fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm.

Additionally, showers or thundershowers are anticipated in several other areas of the island during the evening or night.

Strong winds, ranging from 40 to 45 km/h, are expected intermittently over the Northern, North-central, North-western, and Central provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.

The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
