57 Complaints of Election Law Violations in 24 Hours

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Election Commission has reported receiving 57 complaints of election law violations within the past 24 hours. 

Of these, 13 complaints were directed to the National Election Complaints Management Center, while 45 were received by the District Election Complaints Management Centers.

Since the 26th of last month to the 19th of October, a total of 520 complaints related to election law violations have been lodged, according to the Election Commission.

Additionally, two incidents of election-related acts of violence have been reported.

The police have arrested 29 individuals in connection with complaints related to the 2024 General Election.

Meanwhile, the People's Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) organization has announced the deployment of 5,000 observers for the upcoming parliamentary elections. 

PAFFREL's Executive Director, Rohana Hettiarachchi, stated that the relevant training programs for these observers have already commenced.
