COLOMBO (News 1st); The submission of nominations for the 2024 Parliamentary Election commenced today.
Chairman of the National Election Commission, R.M.A.L. Ratnayake, said that nominations can be submitted until noon on the 11th.
According to Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake, nomination submissions will take place at the District Secretary Offices of the 22 electoral districts.
Nominations can be submitted during office hours until noon on the 11th, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.
Political parties are not required to deposit security funds for this election.
However, independent groups must deposit Rs. 20,000 per candidate at the relevant District Secretary Office.
This deposit must also be made by noon on the 11th.
Candidates are required to submit their nomination papers in the prescribed format as per the Parliamentary Elections Act No. 1 of 1981. All necessary documents must be submitted along with the nomination papers on the same day.
