COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Police announced a special security and traffic plan for the May Day rallies and processions scheduled to take place in Colombo tomorrow (1).
A total of 15 rallies, meetings, and celebrations are organized within the city of Colombo alone.
Additionally, numerous May Day events are planned across other provinces.
Senior Deputy Inspectors General of Police, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, and Senior Superintendents of Police in charge of various regions have been instructed to ensure adequate security for these events.
The police have advised the public to use alternative routes to avoid potential traffic congestion in Colombo and surrounding areas due to the May Day processions and rallies.
Traffic police officers will be on duty to guide motorists on alternative routes during these events.
Key locations in Colombo where May Day rallies and celebrations will be held include Galle Face Green, Armour Street, Keselwatta, near the E.A. Gunasinghe statue, P.D. Sirisena Stadium, the Postal Head Office, Hyde Park, the Public Library, Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre, Kosgashandiya, and the Colombo Municipal Council.
