School Holiday Announced for Presidential Election

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Education has announced that all schools across the island will be closed on the 20th of this month due to the upcoming presidential election. 

According to the ministry's statement, schools are scheduled to resume normal operations on the 23rd.

In preparation for the election, schools designated as polling centers are required to be handed over to Grama Niladhari officers after school hours on September 19.

Additionally, schools that will serve as counting centers will only be closed during the specific period required for counting.
