COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Environment Week, coinciding with the global observance of World Environment Day on June 5, has been officially declared from May 30 to June 5.
Today, May 30, is designated as Sustainable Land Management Day.
The focal program is underway in the Anuradhapura district, organized by the Geological and Mine Survey and the Bureau of Mines.
Key initiatives include land rehabilitation, soil conservation, and sustainable land management practices.
Additionally, farmers and planters will receive guidance on the long-term utilization of agricultural land.
This year's World Environment National Celebrations, themed "Effective Land Use for a Healthy Environment," will be held under the auspices of President Ranil Wickramasinghe on June 5th at the Sinharaja entrance in Kalawana, said the Department of Government Information via a Facebook post.
