NO Tsunami threat to Sri Lanka after magnitude-7.3 earthquake strikes Indonesia

COLOMBO (News 1st); An earthquake of magnitude-7.3 has struck west of Indonesia's Sumatra Island and Sri Lanka's National Tsunami Early Warning Center said there is NO Tsunami threat to Sri Lanka.

It added that Sri Lanka's coastal areas are declared as safe. 

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) earlier pegged the quake at magnitude-6.9.

The quake hit at about 3 a.m. local time (2000 GMT). A number of aftershocks were detected later, and some registered around 4 magnitude, BMKG data showed.
