Sri Lanka Cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka arrested in Australia

Sydney - Sri Lanka cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka has reportedly arrested in Sydney on Saturday (5). 

According to sources Danushka Gunatilleke has been arrested over a complaint made by a woman. 

Danushka Gunatilleke was with the Sri Lanka team when they played England in Sydney. 

The arrest has reportedly taken place after the game. 

As reported by The Australian, the SriLankan star has been charged with four counts of sexual assault. 

The charge include sexual intercourse without consent. According to the Australian media reports, 29-year-old woman who Danushka Gunatilleke met via a dating app has accused him of sexually assaulting her.

The incident happened at a residence in Sydney earlier this week. The SriLankan Cricketer was arrested at the team hotel last night. He will produced in Court later on Sunday (6).

The Sri Lanka team left for Colombo on Sunday (6) morning without Danushka Gunatilleke as scheduled. Danushka Gunatilleke travelled with the Sri Lanka team for the T20 World Cup in Australia and was ruled out of the tournament with an injury. 

He, however, remained with the squad despite being officially replaced by Ashen Bandara.
