COLOMBO (News 1st); President of the Federation of Health Professionals, Ravi Kumudesh states that health professionals have temporarily called off their strike for 14 days.
The strike was launched 09-days ago, citing several issues including salary anomalies.
Patients who visited Government Hospitals were severely inconvenienced due to the strike action.
Kumudesh stated that as the federation is expecting President's intervention into their issues, they cannot accept any of the agreements reached regarding their 07 demands as a complete solution.
Saman Rathnapriya, the Chairman of the Government Nursing Officers' Association (GNOA) added that during the discussion on 8th February, the Minister failed to resolve the salary anomalies in proportion with the teachers service, however, during a recent discussion the Minister of Health had agreed to present a proposal to the cabinet on coming Monday in this regard.
Therefore, health professionals suspended strike action as the Health Minister agreed to present a Cabinet proposal.
