TikToker who harassed elephant calf by driving close to it, arrested and fined

COLOMBO (News 1st); The driver of jeep involved in harassing an elephant calf in Habarana, along the Trincomalee - Habarana Road was arrested and fined.

The Department of Wildlife in a Facebook post said the suspect was arrested by the Wildlife Officers and produced to the Kekirawa Magistrate's Court where he was fined Rs. 200,000/- on Thursday (10).

A disturbing video from Sri Lanka posted on TikTok where a man tried to scare away an elephant by driving his vehicle too close to the wild animal, while recording the entire incident, left netizens fuming.
