COLOMBO (News 1st); The current Government has a Cabinet without a single proper opinion, says former Parliamentarian Saman Ratnapriya.
Speaking on the occasion of the Government summoning the Secretary to the Finance Ministry S.R. Attygalle and the CBSL Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal to the Cabinet meeting, the former MP stated that there have been previous Governments in the country where Secretaries of the Finance Ministry were summoned and the situation of the country was discussed, however not at a time like this, when a large economic crisis had befallen the country.
Moreover, Ratnapriya says that experts are of the opinion that the IMF can provide some relief in the event of such a catastrophe, and the Government refuses to go to the IMF as well.
There are some Ministers of the Government who say that they will resign if the country goes to the IMF, Ratnapriya said, adding that this Government has a Cabinet without a proper opinion in which Ministers oppose each other.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chandima Wijegunawardena stated that the people must be careful at the next election in order to understand the cunning moves the politicians may pull against them.
Additionally, Dr. Ajantha Perera stated that politics have gone beyond mere party colors today, and the only hope remaining for the country is to fill the Parliament with more youth and more women Parliamentarians.
