Chief Inspector assigned to Thirukkovil Police Station

COLOMBO (News 1st); A Chief Police Inspector has been appointed as an acting OIC to the Thirukkovil Police, in Ampara.

In addition, police officers attached to other police stations have been assigned to the Thirukkovil Police Station.

A policeman killed four fellow officers and injured three others in a shooting at a police station in Sri Lanka.

The incident took place in the former war zone of Thirukkovil in eastern Sri Lanka on Friday (24th December) night.

The sergeant who carried out the shooting was arrested after surrendering himself and two Type 56 assault rifles with ammunition at a separate police station.

The four police officers who were killed when a fellow Police Sergeant opened fire at the Thirukkovil Police Station were posthumously promoted with effect from the 24th of December 2021.
