Public should be happy about New Fortress: S.B. Dissanayake

COLOMBO (News 1st); The public should be happy about investors such as the US Company New Fortress Energy Inc. says MP S.B. Dissanayake.

Pointing out that the company's managing director is Dr. Jatila Ranasinghe, MP Dissanayake stated that the presence of Dr. Ranasinghe itself is enough reason for Sri Lanka to accept the deal.

Speaking further on the economic situation of the country, SLPP MP S.B. Dissanayake cited a report by the World Economic Forum, which states that two-thirds of the people have been affected because of rising global inflation rates and the cost of living and that people across the world are under severe pressure.

Furthermore, the MP said that in the UK, inflation rates and the cost of goods are at their highest in 10 years, while most of the people in Australia are earning daily wages to make ends meet. The World Bank says this is the biggest downfall since the 1870s, the MP added.

Moreover, MP Dissanayake stated that J.P. Morgan, which is the biggest rating agency has cautioned that there would be a massive shortage of food and essential commodities.

" I am requesting the Government to reduce room for slogans, demands and salary increments by the people. This isn't the time to increase salaries but to reduce them, even on a global level. It is unlawful if the public tries to make such demands now. That must be brought under control," he added.
