Sri Lanka expects Pakistan to investigate lynching of Sri Lankan in Sialkot

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Foreign Ministry expects the Pakistan authorities to take the required action to investigate and ensure justice following an incident where a Sri Lankan was lynched in Sialkot, Pakistan earlier on Friday (3).

The Foreign Ministry has received reports of an alleged incident of torture and burning of the body of a Sri Lankan in Sialkot, Pakistan, said Sugeeshwara Gunaratna, Spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry.

"The Sri Lanka High Commission in Islamabad is in the process of verifying the details of the incident from the Pakistan authorities," he added.
