Multiple gas explosions, including at a local government member residence

COLOMBO (News 1st); More than a dozen gas explosions were reported on Monday (29) and Tuesday (30) from several parts of Sri Lanka.

Galle: The gas cooker in a house located in Imaduwa, Galle exploded on Monday (29) night while the residents were preparing dinner.

No injuries were reported, and one occupant said they only heard noises and had no clue the gas was going to explode.

Meerigama: Another gas explosion was reported from Thilinagama, Meerigama.

"I lit the cooker and stepped out for a second. At once there was an explosion," the homeowner told News 1st.

Ambalangoda: The gas cooker at the Moratuwa Residence of Ambalangoda Urban Councilor Indra Irangani exploded at 10 PM on Monday (29).

The UNP local government member said she had no idea what took place.

Athurugiriya: On Tuesday (30) morning, a gas explosion was reported from a residence in Athurugiriya.

No one was injured, and the occupants said the incident took place when they were boiling water to prepare tea for the morning.

Bibila: A gas explosion was reported from a restaurant in Lindakumbura, Bibila on Monday (29) night.

Ambilipitiya: A gas cooker exploded at a house in Kumbugoda, in the Ebilipitiya DS areas.
