Three arrested for kidnapping 16-year-old girl

COLOMBO (News 1st); Three suspects have been arrested for the abduction of a 16 year old school girl in Embilipitiya yesterday (12), Police said.

Police said that when the victim had left school yesterday afternoon (12), three people had forced her into a three-wheeler, and subsequently fled the scene.

She was then taken to an abandoned house in the Sevanagala area and the abductors have attempted to abuse the victim. However, the Police mentioned that the school girl had retaliated, rendering their efforts futile.

Later, a passerby had assisted the girl to return home.

The 16-year old girl has been admitted to hospital while the arrested suspects are currently being questioned, police added.
